Thai Massage is believed to have been developed by Jivaka Kumar Bhaccha, a physician to Buddha more than 2500 years ago in India. Eventually it made its way to Thailand with techniques and principals influenced by Ayurvedic and Chinese Medical theory as well as the postural dynamics of Hatha Yoga.
This interactive and graceful manipulation of the body uses passive stretching and gentle pressure along the body’s energy pathways (Meridians) to both relax and energize the body and mind.
It is performed on a padded mat on the floor with the client wearing loose comfortable clothing. The therapist will guide you through a series of Yoga-like stretches using muscle compression, and Acupressure.
