What is Qigong?

  • Qigong (also called ‘Qi Gong’ or ‘Chi Kung’ and pronounced ‘Chee-Gung’) is an ancient Chinese meditative health discipline based on Traditional Chinese Medicine principles.

  • In basic terms, it is a slow and precise form of moving meditation that involves controlled breathing, stretching and strengthening exercises.

  • The aim of Qigong is to stimulate and balance the flow of Qi throughout the body. It is devoted to developing an understanding, awareness and control of one’s ‘Three Treasures’. – the Body/Essence (Jing), Energy (Qi) and Spirit (Shen).

  • Qigong is used extensively in China as part of traditional Chinese medicine. As an art of healing and health preservation it has a long history and a profound cultural background, playing a critical role to prevent disease and prolong life.

Because Qigong is the practice of integrating body, mind and spirit, it is known as ‘internal training’, and is best practiced under the guidance of a highly experienced Instructor or Master.
